In addition the Project was awarded a $3.2 million grant through the United States Department of Energy, and administered by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities. Blue Sky Power has signed a PPA that will save the college over 75% on energy from its systems. Construction was completed in the 2nd quarter of 2012.

Blue Sky Power operates 400kW roof and ground mounted solar systems on the University’s campus at it’s LEED Gold Wellness Center.  The University selected Blue Sky Power pursuant to an RFP for a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).  Blue Sky Power prepared usage and savings analysis for the University.  Blue Sky Power financed the project with a New York based equity fund and utilized Federal and State grants and tax credits available for funding the University’s Solar Energy Project.  Blue Sky Power held regular working group meetings with the University, engineers, contactor and the University’s energy consultant and utilized our Project Development and Management Plan to keep the project moving timely.  Blue Sky Power operates the GCU Solar Energy Project under a 15 year agreement and manages all aspects of the Project. The project has been fully operational since late December 2010 and is outperforming its initial estimates.

Gloucester Township is one of the largest municipalities in New Jersey.  Blue Sky Power was selected to serve as the Township’s Energy Consultant and create the Township’s Energy Master Plan. This comprehensive Plan, completed by Blue Sky Power, analyzes all Township energy usage and is the guide for implementation of energy projects including energy procurement, energy efficiency, recycling, solar PV, cogeneration and community power projects. The significant scope includes structuring and development of energy projects for 25 governmental buildings and utility scale clean energy projects for the Township’s Superfund site, a former U.S. Nike Missile Base site and a closed landfill. This is one of the most advanced and comprehensive clean energy plans undertaken by a municipality and Blue Sky Power’s vision is being implemented, including numerous clean energy generation projects at municipal and local school district facilities, a municipal recycling program, and utilization of state programs to fund building retrofits to increase energy efficiency in Township and school district buildings under a shared services financing structure proposed by Blue Sky Power.  As a first project, the Township has entered into a shared services agreement with the State’s largest K-8 school district and a regional school district to create a 7+ MW solar project that will be installed on numerous municipal and school facilities. Blue Sky Power continues to explore clean energy projects to benefit the Township and its residents as the regulatory structure for such projects continues to expand.

Project: Project Development, Energy Analysis, design bid specs, draft RFP, interview prospective PPA providers, negotiate PPA and oversee all phases of project development. This project was completed and commissioned in March of 2011. The system offsets 12% of the electricity usage and saves the Home close to 38% annually on the electricity generated.

Blue Sky Power was the Clean Energy Project Developer for the Foundation’s 1.2 MW solar project built on 5 acres of the Masonic Home’s 400-acre senior living campus in Burlington Township. In conjunction with the solar project, Blue Sky Power analyzed and modeled two years of energy usage data and collaborated with the prior and current third party energy suppliers in negotiating the supply contracts to ensure favorable terms for the Foundation.  Blue Sky Power developed bid specifications, conducted interviews with power purchase agreement (PPA) providers, financiers and contractors, and assisted with negotiations of the PPA, site lease agreement and other related agreements on behalf of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees.  Blue Sky Power handled all finance and contractor negotiations and managed land use, permitting and other approvals for the Foundation.  The Project was commissioned in April 2011. The project provides a 20% average reduction of energy costs for the Foundation and the energy supply contract provides approximately 38% average reduction of energy costs.

Central Regional School District

Central Regional School District

Size: 1.5MW

Project: Solar Energy Project Feasibility Report, Implement Clean Energy Project Development and Management Plan, Negotiated PPA and finance structure, coordinate working group, oversee project to ensure timely "placed in service." The project was completed in September 2011 and actively generating solar energy. The project will save the school district close to 44% on their electric expense over the next 15 years.

Blue Sky Power has conducted this project in two phases. For Phase I, Blue Sky Power prepared an in-depth Solar Energy Project Feasibility Report for the School District, which included an analysis of existing School District properties that could be used for a solar system, annual electric usage analysis, solar system design and layout, and financial analysis and 30 year pro formas showing all available finance structures.  In Phase II, Blue Sky Power prepared the bid documents to install two ground mounted solar systems totaling 1.5MW to offset approximately 90% of the School District’s energy usage.  Blue Sky Power’s services for this project also include: a) creation of a Project Timeline and Clean Energy Project Development and Management Plan; b) working with all necessary parties to finalize various finance, land use, energy purchase and other agreements to consummate the necessary transactions; c) aiding Central Regional in interviewing PPA Providers, installers and manufacturers in accordance with the bid documents; and d)  overseeing and managing various aspects of the Project to ensure timely “placed in service” operation by the PPA Provider and its contractors and subcontractors, and compliance with local land use ordinances, state and federal regulations, codes and requirements.  Blue Sky Power drafted a proposal review and assisted in negotiation of the PPA and structuring the financing. Blue Sky conducted project management, financing and land use approvals.  The Project was completed in October of 2011. The PPA provides a 44% average reduction of energy costs.

Project: Blue Sky Power was selected by Aqua America, a national water utility, to develop and manage clean energy projects at multiple sites. Initially, Blue Sky Power prepared a feasibility analysis for clean energy projects on 15 Aqua NJ Sites utilizing various complex finance structures for the regulated utility. Currently, two sites were interconnected and commissioned at their Lopactong and Sicklerville facilities, totaling 700kW.

Blue Sky Power was selected by Aqua America, a water utility, to develop and manage clean energy projects at multiple sites. Initially, Blue Sky Power prepared a feasibility analysis for clean energy projects on 15 Aqua Sites throughout New Jersey utilizing various complex finance structures for the regulated utility. Next, Blue Sky Power assisted Aqua to bring its projects to fruition by preparing RFPs and assisting with the bid process and contractor selection. We then worked with Aqua’s counsel and engineers on the land use, permitting and interconnection processes and obtaining necessary approvals. Construction was completed at both Aqua sites in January 2012.

Blue Sky Power structured the financing for a solar energy project at the 150 year-old institution. In this role, Blue Sky Power was able to implement an innovative structure that involved an operating lease with Bank of America. In addition, Blue Sky Power obtained a 10-year SREC contract for $450/SREC with First Energy. To date, this is the only completed such operating lease implemented for a non-profit in New Jersey.

Blue Sky Power was selected to serve the Township in developing the bid specifications for its Town Hall and Public Works Department solar systems and other energy efficiency upgrades to Town Hall.  Funding for these projects has already been received from the US DOE Energy Efficiency Conservation Block Grant program, Congressionally Directed funds, Township bond issuance and the NJ Board of Public Utilities’ CORE Rebate.  Bids were recently received for the Town Hall Solar Project and we have provided analysis to the Township.  Construction on the Department of Public Works 100 kW solar project was completed in December 2010 and the system is performing better than expected.

Initially, Blue Sky Power prepared a finance structuring analysis and recommendations for this affordable housing facility in Brick Township, NJ. The analysis took into account the structuring goals of the organization and created a mechanism for proper utilization of the federal Renewable Energy Investment Tax Credit. Project kick-off occurred in early March 2010 and Blue Sky Power issued an RFP for contractors. We have managed the project through to completion and have coordinated ongoing regulatory compliance. The system was commissioned in June 2011.

Blue Sky Power was retained to perform a clean energy economic and engineering feasibility study for the purpose of installing multiple solar arrays at the Taj Mahal Casino Resort and warehouse facilities.  Blue Sky Power will handle all aspects of project including, engineering, bid specs, financing, installation, and regulatory compliance.  This project will be the first solar array installed at any casino in Atlantic City.

Blue Sky Power performed an analysis of both technical and economic feasibility, delivered a feasibility analysis to the Authority and the Districts, and submitted the electrical interconnection applications to the utility on behalf of the districts.  Blue Sky Power also drafted the request for proposals in preparation for taking the projects out to the public for bids.  The project will move forward pending further analysis based upon the response of the utility to the interconnection request.

Blue Sky Power was selected with a regional engineering firm to perform a town-wide analysis of clean energy projects and to develop a solar project at the Moyer Landfill. Funding for the project has been allocated under Congressionally Directed Projects administered by the U.S. Department of Energy (USDOE) and Blue Sky Power has coordinated implementation of the Project with the Township and USDOE.   Currently work has begun on a solar project at the municipal facility and a feasibility study for the landfill.
